About me:
I have a son who recently graduated from grad school and live in Indianapolis. I love to travel, perennial garden, fish, pick berries in summer, do many types of  crafts, hike,  and go to our camp. In the past couple years I have participated in some fun 5ks,  three 10k runs and three 8 mile Mackinac Island runs, a mud run in Wisconsin which was crazy fun, and survived them all. It's been fun to join these races and meet new people, good wellness for my health, and also to have a sense of pride when I finish.  I have a special love for all animals; including my cats, but my backyard welcomes birds of many migratory sorts year round.  Summer is my favorite season so that I can be outside in the sunshine and  warmth. I enjoy time with my husband, family and friends. I am an avid Green Bay Packers fan and love when football season is back in full  swing.

Teaching experience:

This year (Fall of 2019) begins my 34th  year of teaching. I have taught at Forest Park for 20 years and spent 13 years prior to that teaching in Arizona.  I teach in the K-4th grade Resource Room at Forest Park Elementary School.

Educational background:

I graduated from Kingsford High School and attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wi. After graduating from Carthage College I moved out west to Phoenix, Arizona.  I received my Masters of Education Degree (MAED) from the University of Phoenix in 1992.

Special training:
I am certified Elementary Education and Special Education Learning Disabilities. I am trained in the research based reading instruction program Orton Gillingham and also trained in Dibels (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Literacy Skills). I utilize the Read Naturally
Program in my classroom daily.  The Phonics for Reading series is also utilized in the resource room.  This is a systematic, research based instructional program which provides explicit instruction in phonics as well as phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension.

My Wish:
My wish for you as parents is to enjoy each and every minute with your child/children. The years slip by so fast and before you know it your child is grown up and moving on with their own life. Strive to be nothing but the best positive role model for your child. Savor the smiles and chaos of your busy life watching them grow up. Be an involved parent through the years at Forest Park. This includes the teenage years when they still need you just as much! Count your blessings each and every single night. Then count them again. :)
